GP Perspective – Why I came to Essex

Dr J Patric Otte works as a Locum GP in South Essex. He completed his GP training in Cumbria. Dr Otte explains the factors that persuaded him to move to Essex to fulfil his career as a GP:

“My goal was to move to Southend-on-Sea. I love the coast and the fact that is only 1 train hour away from London. Leigh-on-sea which is close by is one of the top places to live in the UK.

I like travelling and South Essex has good access to all London airports (Stansted, Gatwick and Heathrow). Southend has its own airport with flights to Barcelona and other European cities, but, if I prefer to drive to Europe for a weekend break I can drive to Folkestone or Dover in about 1 hour.

I enjoy the local culture such as visiting Hadleigh Castle and entertainment including Lakeside late night shopping and the V-Festival in Chelmsford!

People are friendly, forward-thinking and helpful. There are also great primary and secondary schools.

Why don’t you join us?”
